April - SWEEP ON JEAN-TALON EST STREET

This year again, the SDC Jean Talon, in collaboration with the Eco Quartier, has participated to the Montreal.net operation under the slogan ''MA RUE... JE LA VEUX PROPRE! ''.

In addition to members traders, this time, the SDC has expanded its outreach by inviting also residents in the Jean-Talon Est street to join the activity and thereby contribute to the cleanliness of their artery.

Many were the merchants who were able to take actions convey a positive image of Jean Talon Est street  at this major event, held across Montreal city !

Participants received a sweater and a chore kit: gloves, bags (garbage, recycling and green waste), as well as safety instructions. They had to clean their windows, empty their ashtrays, wash their windows and much more.

Overall, the event has been very successful with a total of nearly 50 participants and a very positive impact on the environment.

April - COMPETITION FOR DRAWINGS IN SCHOOLS

Given the success of the environmental project of 2011, the Société de Développement Commercial de la rue Jean-Talon Est in Saint Leonard renews its draft environmental project under the theme "Jean-Talon Est se couvre de vert" 2012 Edition .

This contest is the result of a remarkable collaboration between the SDC Jean-Talon, the Borough of Saint-Léonard and five local primary schools:

- Dante

- Ladauversière,

- Wilfrid Bastien,

- Alphonse Pesant

- Lambert-Closse.

Students will have to design Jean-Talon St. East with the idea of being more “green”.

Note that among the five winning drawings, two of them will be selected to be placed on the reusable bags, which will be distributed during the autumn of 2012 to schools and stores on Jean-Talon St. East.
